Motorcycle Training

Your safety, is our business.

Hello! Thanks for taking the time to research your Colorado motorcycle class options.
At BLACK B.A.G. Training, we’ve been offering quality motorcycle classes at a fair price for over 17 years.
Our main concern is giving new and continuing riders the training and knowledge
they need to get on the road and stay safe.

We partner with the best, and offer you nothing less.

Black Bag Motorcycle Training works with organizations like the Red Cross and Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) to offer certified Motorcycle Operator Safety Training courses. In addition to qualifying you for a Motorcycle “M” Endorsement, successful completion of a M.O.S.T. course can earn you valuable discounts on riding gear, parts, insurance, and even a brand new motorcycle!

Once a student, always a student.

Once you pay for a class, such as the BRC, you can come back and repeat it on a space available basis as often as you need. If you fail the first time, you can always come back and take the course again at no additional charge. We are the only motorcycle school in Colorado to offer that service!

If you decide you need a refresher — say you took the course but didn’t buy a bike right away and want to refresh your skills — on a space available basis you can also come back and take the class again.

We want you to be a success!

Motorcycle Lessons, DMV Testing, and More

At Black Bag Motorcycle Training, we strive to provide the coaching and experience you need to improve your overall riding skills and stay safe on the road. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, we have a motorcycle lesson just for you! Register for a class today and start riding with confidence, common sense, and the skills you need to tackle any curve along the way.

If you need to get your Motorcycle License Endorsement and don’t have a lot of motorcycling experience, this is the class for you. The Basic RiderCourse is a 16-19 hour two-day program which provides classroom and actual motorcycle operator training (20 – 25 miles of riding) in a controlled, off-street environment. No experience is necessary, but a good sense of balance is required (you must be able to ride a bicycle).

In the Basic RiderCourse , you will learn to have more fun by riding your motorcycle safely. This course introduces students to the basics of riding, including what to wear, how to stop, start, and control your motorcycle, as well as strategies to maneuver your bike in tough situations. Here’s a short list of some of the topics covered in this course:

  • Introduction to motorcycling
  • Protective gear / what to wear
  • Controls (i.e. clutch and brakes)
  • Pre-ride preparation/inspection
  • Riding strategies to avoid trouble and stay safe on the road
  • Driving and riding impairments such as the use of drugs and alcohol
  • Maneuvering your motorcycle and avoiding obstacles
  • Passing/lane changes
  • Riding at night
  • Collision avoidance skills
  • Swerving
  • Special situations
  • Carrying a passenger or cargo
  • Dealing with tire failure
  • Dealing with animals
  • And other topics, all included to increase your motorcycle riding enjoyment and safety

You must complete the MSF BRC workbook prior to class (a 2-3 hour task). The workbook is included in the class fee.

If you’re not sure that motorcycling is for you and are concerned about committing to a full two day class, the Introductory RiderCourse is an excellent option. This is a 2-3 hour class that reviews basic motorcycle or scooter riding concepts including:

  • Pre ride safety check (personal gear and motorcycle / scooter)
  • Mounting/dismounting
  • Posture/balance
  • Clutch/throttle control
  • Walking the motorcycle/scooter (under power)
  • Braking
  • Slow, controlled turns

At the end of this course you will have two choices:

  1. Stop with the knowledge that you gave it a try, and have decided that motorcycling is not for you.
  2. Continue on with the Basic Rider Course (BRC), and we’ll credit the $50 you paid for the introductory course towards the BRC.

It’s up to you.

This class is for those who have just completed the Basic RiderCourse, but would still like to get more practice before you head out on the road or buy a bike. NO REQUIRED TEST, 1/2 day class, a little faster pace than the BRC and it’s FUN!

The Intermediate RiderCourse includes about 4 hours of riding time and covers eight of the key exercises from the Basic RiderCourse with no required testing. However, at the end of class, an optional license waiver test is offered at no additional fee.

This is the EXACT same course that other schools are charging up to $250.00 dollars for! It’s a half day course, you use your own motorcycle, and it may qualify graduates for insurance premium discounts with some motorcycle insurers.

Even if you’ve been riding for some time, there’s always something new to learn.  Increasing numbers of seasoned riders are flocking to the half-day Experienced RiderCourse to hone their skills and fine-tune the mental skills they need to survive in traffic.

You’ll learn to balance the mental and physical aspects of safe riding, manage risk, increase visibility and optimize your lane position. The Experienced RiderCourse also covers protective gear, the effects of alcohol and other drugs on riding, rider responsibility, motorcycle inspection/care, and can include an optional skill evaluation and knowledge test.

Using your own motorcycle, you’ll practice managing traction, stopping quickly, cornering and swerving.

Learning to ride, or learning to ride better, is only one part of the equation.

We feel that riders should first be able to take care of themselves in the event of an accident or emergency, and thus be able to help others under the same or more adverse conditions. During your rider education we will focus on your riding skills, but not neglect to cover a lot of “what if” scenarios should things go wrong on the road. While we won’t be able to cover everything during an MSF stand-alone class, you will get a flavor of what additional training you may need.

The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED class gives individuals the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest until advanced medical personnel arrive. During the class, we focus on situations a rider might encounter as well as cover what the general public would be exposed to.

Learning objectives include:

  • How to recognize and handle an emergency.
  • How to check the scene for safety and the victim for consciousness.
  • When and how to move a victim from a dangerous scene.
  • When to call and how to interact with the emergency medical services (EMS) system.
  • Why and how to apply basic precautions to reduce the risk of disease transmission during and after providing care.
  • How to prioritize care for life threatening injuries or sudden illnesses.
  • How to check a conscious victim for life and non-life threatening conditions.
  • How to recognize the signals of a heart attack and how to give care.
  • How to recognize and care for a victim of sudden illness.
  • How to recognize and care for different types of wounds, including burns and bleeding.
  • How to recognize and care for a victim of a heat or cold related emergency.
  • How to care for a victim who is having a breathing emergency.
  • How to perform CPR to an adult.
  • Precautions for using an AED (demonstration of use on an adult experiencing cardiac arrest).
  • How to control external bleeding.
  • How to recognize and care for muscle, bone and joint injuries, including injuries to the head, neck and back.

Classes can be held at our location or on your site. We can accommodate up to 20 people at our location for most Classroom Seminars, American Red Cross, Group Riding, and Accident Scene Management classes.

Additional Course: Group Riding – $15.00 per person

Group Riding is a short, fun, non-riding (off the motorcycle) course on safe methods for street group riding. It involves viewing a short video tape, reading a workbook, and a moderated class discussion.

Please call Bob Frank at 303-233-0081 for more information about Red Cross Seminars, Group Riding, or Accident Scene Management Classes.

Referral Incentives: As a way of saying ‘Thank You’, we offer an incentive of $10 for each referral. When you think enough of our services to send your family and friends to us for training, we want to show our appreciation with a small, but sincere, Thank You. To receive the referral incentive, the referred student must provide us your full name at the time of the class.

Gift Certificates can be purchased in specific amounts or in $25 multiples to help pay for a class. We can accept payment now and apply it to a specific class at a later date.

The recipient must call and register for a specific class prior to attending.
